Strap-ons are hot!

Strap-on play (aka "pegging") has become very popular over the past few years. So what's it all about?

One player puts on a harness (strapping it on) with a dildo attached, and uses it to penetrate their partner. Why is it called "pegging"? We have no idea! Maybe it came from putting a round peg into... well, into a round hole. We're not particularly fond of that name because it makes us think of a pirate shoving a peg-leg into someone (who is screaming "Arrrrrr!"). But whatever you call it, it's a lot of fun! Okay, pirate role playing can be fun too. Maybe someone should make a strap-on dildo shaped like a peg-leg. Arrrrrr!

Who does this kind of thing? Everyone! Women do it to penetrate other women, or their male partners. A lot of women are surprised by the feeling of power they get when they strap on a cock and use it on someone. And a lot of men are surprised at how much they get off on their woman taking them in the ass!

Men also use strap-ons if they have problems getting an erection, or they want to give their partner more action when they've worn out. And of course strap-ons come in a lot of shapes, sizes, and textures, so they can add variety and new sensations to your lovemaking.

Strap-on Harnesses

There are many types of strap-on harnesses. Some have a built-in dong. Others are a harness with an o-ring that holds the dong in place on a pad. A separate harness will, of course, give you more options.

We recommend that you get a harness that has snaps that hold the o-ring in. That allows you get get larger o-rings, which you can find at any hardware store. Also look for a harness where the snaps are attached to the waist strap, passing through the pad, so that you can pull the straps out to accommodate a larger dildo, or one that has larger balls.

You'll also see two types of straps attached to the waist strap: "down the crack", or "around the cheeks". The first type has a single strap that goes down your butt crack and up to attach the to the pad. The second type has two straps that wrap around the bottom of your butt cheeks. Most people seem to find the "around the cheeks" harnesses more comfortable, but you'll need to find out what works best for you.

What Can You Put in a Strap-on Harness?

Pretty much anything with a flared base or balls! That includes a lot of dildos, and some vibrators. You can also put many butt plugs in a harness, but you're not going to get a lot of penetration depth.

It's Not All About the Waist!

Most harnesses are designed to wear around the waist. But there are special harnesses that are made to go around the thigh, or made to wear on the face like a ball gag. There are also harnesses for keeping a butt plug in place, and there are harness attachments that allow a butt plug to be worn with an "down the crack" type harnesses.

The Vac-U-Lock System

Doc Johnson's Vac-U-Lock system is designed around a plug that fits into a socket on some of their products. They have a number of plug attachments, including harnesses, a handle, a suction cup, and even aninflatable ball that you can bounce on. There are a lot of dongs with Vac-U-Lock sockets, including some of the large toys in the American Bombshell line. You'll find these products in our Vac-U-Lock catetgory.

The RediLock System

If you want even more strap-on options, check out the products from TSX Toys. Most TSX dildos and butt plugs can be ordered with a RediLock base. RediLock is a plug-and-socket system, similar to Vac-U-Lock. And you can get some monster dildos like Mighty Joe Dong with a RediLock base! Just select the RediLock option in the Base selection list. (If you don't see the RediLock option, TSX won't make the product with that option. That usually applies to very large and heavy toys because the plug won't hold them on.)
