Rest and Relaxation

We've been busting our asses... and not in the good way... for seven months getting the new store ready. We haven't had time or energy to do much else. Now that it's up and running, we're able to do other things. Like get out of the house!

Last night we went to a concert by The High Kings. They're an Irish group, and they're amazing. I've heard their music on Pandora, but seeing them live was an incredible experience. It was a small venue, the Soiled Dove Underground in Denver. And we got a table right up front. I could have put my Guinness down on the stage!

We love Celtic music. We've seen a lot of great groups come through Denver. Battlefield Band, Clannad, Altan, and others. Battlefield Band is one of favorites. They're a Scottish group, very high energy. We haven't seen another group to match them until last night.

The High Kings do a mix of traditional Irish songs and their own compositions. They perform some in traditional ballad style, and others... they blow the roof off. I think every Irish band has done a cover of "Star of the County Down", I think it's a requirement. But I've never heard anyone rock it like The High Kings did. At the end of the show they had the audience on their feet clapping and singing along to "Whiskey in the Jar".

We had a great time, and we really needed the break from work. The High Kings tour the USA fairly often, so definitely keep an eye out for them. And if they come near where you live, go see them!

I got a little more R&R this morning. I got up, made coffee, started checking the site for orders and support tickets... and out internet connection went down. So I was able to catch up on my reading. I finished Paolo Bacigalupi's "The Water Knife", a story about what happens when we run out of water. It was very good, but also very depressing. I need to find something a bit lighter for my next read.

Our Internet is obviously back up, so I need to get back to work. We've still got about 1,000 products to move from the old store!
