The Saga of the Black Balled Dildo

In The Beginning...

When the Black Balled dildo was released (as Chi Chi LaRue's Black Balled Dildo, designed by Rascal Video and manufactured by Topco Sales) it was an instant best seller. When we posted it on the store our suppliers quickly ran out of stock. They ordered more stock and ran out again. Now we know that other merchants were selling the Black Balled too. But in the first two months it was on our store we sold over 700 of them... that's more that 10 a day! So we know were were definitely contributing to the shortage. Then we heard that the manufacturer was about to run out. One of our suppliers had some in stock so we bought 100 of them, and that carried us through the manufacturer shortage.

Why was this dildo such a runaway best seller? For many people it is the "Perfect Big Dildo". The length, thickness, and firmness are ideal for people who love large toys. And the awesome suction cup was a bonus... stick this bad boy to a smooth surface, and it stayed stuck!

 New Stars Are Born!

For some of our customers, no toy is ever big enough. People asked us if we could get something like the Black Balled, but longer and thicker. Topco must have gotten the same feedback, because they came out with the Super Star in light and dark. The Super Star is the same design as the Black Balled, but longer. They are also a bit softer and more flexible. These have sold well for us too, but not nearly as well as the original Black Balled.

 Tragedy Strikes!

In the 16 years we've been running our store, there have been a number of recessions. In most of them, adult entertainment businesses like casinos and adult novelties have been been affected, but tended to slump later and not as low as the rest of the economy, and also recovered sooner. In the last big recession, the adult industry was hit just as hard as everyone else. We saw a number of smaller manufacturers go out of business, and a couple of major wholesale warehouses locked their doors.

The biggest manufacturer to feel the pain was Topco Sales. They were on the verge of closing down, but were acquired by another company headquartered in China. The new owners had all the molds for Topco shipped to China to be manufactured there... and that included the Black Balled and Super Star toys. The relocation and ramp-up of the new factory took months... many, many months. And the stock of Topco products at our suppliers dwindled, and then was gone. There were no Black Balled dildos to be had anywhere.

The nation was in despair.

A New Dawn

Topco gradually caught up with manufacturing. The Super Stars reappeared. And then, finally, the Black Balled was back! America rejoiced! But the name of the product had changed. It was the same toy, but now just called "Blackballed". But a dildo by any other name would be just as much fun, and people were just glad to get "the perfect dildo" again.

Oh, No! Not Again!

Our right to the pursuit of happiness was threatened again when Rascal Video took Topco to court over the rights to the Black Balled dildo. Here's the news:

The Black Balled supply ran dry again. In the meantime, Doc Johnson came out with the Hung dildos for their Vac-U-Lock line. It's the same design as the BAM, in White and Brown. There are two versions, the regular material and their new UR3 formula. The UR3 version is very soft and realistic feeling, but comes with a higher price tag. The UR3 Hung with the Vac-U-Lock suction cup is awesome!

 What's In A Name?

In the past two days, both Rascal and Topco sent out product announcements. Rascal's product the original name, "Black Balled". Topco still calls theirs "Blackballed". They appear to be identical, except in the price: the Rascal product costs about 50% more. As soon as one of our suppliers has the Rascal product in stock we'll get one so that we can compare it to the Topco product.

And Now Our Tale Is Told

We hope that this is the final chapter in the Black Balled story. With two companies producing the same product, as well as the Super Star and Hung products, everyone should be able to "fill their needs". Let's hope all the manufacturers play nice from now on, so we can all play nice with their toys!

But wait, there's more!

The drama never ends! First it was the Black Balled... then the Blackballed... but it's not over yet!

Star picked up a Topco Blackballed dildo at one of our suppliers today... and it has yet another name! Topco is now calling their toy the "Colossal Dong"! We're going to change the name on the store, but the description will mention that it is "the toy formerly known as Blackballed" and that it's the same toy as the original Blackballed, so it will still show up when someone does a search on those words.

Can we just all get along now?

(In German this toy is the "Extragrosser Dildo". I think I like that name better!)

Final update:

Topco is no longer selling this toy under any name. Peace has returned to the world!

  1. jody

i’ve read on several other sites that the Hung is identical to the Bam, which is smaller than the Black Balled. what’s the deal?

  2. Here’s the deal: The Hung is the same design as the Bam… same shape, same length, same detailing (veins, etc). But it’s slightly thicker than the Bam, and not quite as thick as the Blackballed.

    Here are the specs:

Bam: 2.5″ thick at the top of the shaft, 2.25″ thick at the bottom

Hung: 2.75″ thick at the top of the shaft, 2.5″ thick at the bottom

Blackballed: 2.75″ thick along the entire length of the shaft

I just re-measured all three toys to make sure of the dimensions, and I’ve updated the post to note that the Hung is the same design as the Bam.
